A Christmas Wish
Poet: Eugene Field
I'd like a stocking made for a giant,
And a meeting house full of toys,
Then I'd go out in a happy hunt
For the poor little girls and boys;
Up the street and down the street,
And across and over the town,
I'd search and find them every one.
Before the sun went down.
One would want a new jack-knife
Sharp enough to cut;
One would long for a doll with hair,
And eyes that open and shut.
One would ask for a china set
With dishes all to her mind;
One would wish a Noah's ark
With beasts of every kind.
Some would like a doll's cook-stove
And a little toy wash tub;
Some would prefer a little drum,
For a noisy rub-a-dub-dub;
Some would wish for a story book.
And some for a set of blocks;
Some would be wild with happiness
Over a new tool-box.
And some would rather have little shoes,
And other things warm to wear;
For many children are very poor
And the winter is hard to bear;
I'd buy soft flannels for little frocks,
And a thousand stockings or so,
And the joiliest little coats and cloaks
To keep out the frost and snow.
I'd load a wagon with caramels
And candy of every kind,
And buy all the almond and pecan nuts
And taffy that I could find;
And barrels and barrels of oranges
I'd scatter right in the way,
So the children would find them the very first thing
When they wake on Christmas day.

My Christmas Wish for You
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer, © 2011
I have a wish for you this season,
A wish for happiness and joy.
May you receive this happiness,
Maybe even through a toy.
May the season bring joy,
For all you do.
As you deserve only the best,
And that's so very true.
So Happy Holidays to you,
And Happy New Year too.
I hope you are rewarded,
For everything you do.

Christmas Wishes
Poet: Julie Hebert, © 2012
I have a Christmas wish,
And this wish is just for you.
I wish for only happiness,
To come and be with you.
I wish that you will never know,
How unhappiness feels.
I wish that love will come your way,
And you'll fall head over heels.
I have a Christmas wish,
And I hope it does come true.
I wish for you to see all things,
The way that I see you.
I see you as a whole,
The wonderful person you are.
You're kind, considerate and caring,
You are my shining star.
I have a Christmas wish,
But this one I must not say,
As for wishes to come true,
I must not say it no matter the day.
As for my other wishes,
I'm not worried that they've been told.
I know you're a wonderful person,
And these wishes will be yours, as you grow old.
A merry, merry Christmas to YOU!

Much Written
There is much written about Christmas,
but the one wish we have for everyone
is that
we remember why we celebrate this special day.
". . . but the angel said to them,
"Don't be afraid! I am here with
good news for you,
which will bring great joy to all the people.
This very day in David's town your Savior was born -
Christ the Lord!"
(Luke 2:11-12 GNB)

Love Of God
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer
May all your Christmas dreams come true
May you feel the love of God surround you
May the peace that the season brings
Take away the need for things.
So my Christmas wish for you
Is one of love that will always continue
May you feel God who is near
Be with you in the coming year.

A Christmas Wish For You and Yours
Poet: Wilda English
God grant you the light in Christmas, which is faith;
The warmth of Christmas, which is love;
The radiance of Christmas, which is purity.
God grant you the righteousness of Christmas, which is justice;
The belief in Christmas, which is truth;
The all of Christmas, which is Christ.

A Friend's Greeting
Poet: Edgar A. Guest
Diamonds wouldn't tell yer all I really think of you,
The costliest gift the goldsmith makes I'm sure would never do.
There's nothing known that gold can buy that I could ever send
That could explain how glad I am to have yer fer a friend.
If I had all the wealth of earth and what I like could get
And I should send it on to you, I'd still be in your debt,
And still the heart o' me would cry: ''That ain't enough t' do
Fer one whose smiles an' kindly words have meant so much t'you."
It's Christmas time, an' here I am, a-wishin' all that's good
Fer you an' yours. A patch o' blue above your neighborhood.
The bloom o' health forever on the cheeks o' those you love.
An' future years t' bring the joys that now you're dreamin' of.
"God bless yer!" That expresses it in simple words an' true.
It's what the heart o' me would say if it could speak t' you.
May every day be Christmas Day until your journey's end.
Is jus' the simple wish of one who's glad you call him friend.

Joy and Plentys
Poet: J. S. Ogilvie
Joy and plenty in the cottage,
Peace and feasting in the hall;
And the voices of the children
Ring out clear above it all:
A Merry Christmas!
