Bring a smile to the gardener's face as they read our collection of funny garden poems. Working in a garden is hard work, and at times we need a bit of relief, let these poems make you smile.
A funny story I will tell
About the garden where I dwell
I planted some seeds under the sun
Much to my surprise, what had I done?
Tomato seeds? Nope, that won't do
Can't possibly grow a cucumber too!
No matter what I was hoping for in my head
What's planted will grow, that's been said.
I planted some seeds all around,
By the flowers and on the ground.
I lovingly tended them each day,
But they never seemed to grow my way.
I sang songs of encouragement but still,
My plants refused to grow even after I tilled.
Finally, I gave up in frustration
And realized I needed a vacation.
Being a gardener requires hard work,
It's not just a fly-by-night perk.
The Process Of Growth
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer
Sow some seeds, inside a pot or in a plot
With time and care, sprout they ought.
They drink the sunshine, they eat the rain
In the garden, your work is not in vain.
Be sure to water, plants need their share
Lace them with love, be patient and aware
The process of growth you cannot rush
Be patient and soon you'll have a garden of lush.
My Garden
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer
Roses were red,
And my violets too,
I set out to garden,
With hopes anew.
I dug and I sowed,
With love and with pride,
But it seemed my green thumb,
Had quickly died.
My plants were all drooping,
No matter what I tried,
I sat down ready to give up,
I usually take everything in stride.
Fake flowers, I thought,
Would save the day,
I stuck them in the soil,
In a colorful array.
Now my garden's a sight,
So vibrant and bright,
With fake blooms that gleam,
In the daytime and night.
Though my green thumb's a dud,
I'll never feel glum,
For my garden's a showstopper,
With flowers that hum!
My garden, I love to see it grow.
The plants are growing and the bees do know.
The worms are digging in the soil so deep.
They love the fertilizer that I heaped.
Roses come up, and violets too,
The flowery scents hang in the dew.
The trees are full of leaves galore,
Grounded by wonderful clover floors.
My garden really can’t compare-
If yours is better, I am not aware!
Our gardens make us both so proud-
They bring sunshine, taking away any clouds.
What A Joy
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer
Oh what a joy it is to tend my garden daily
To look about and see new life take shape like crazy.
Every day there's something new, I'll never tire
My garden supplies a wide selection that always inspires.
I may pick a juicy melon, or an eggplant so small
Perhaps some ripe tomatoes or crunchy green peas to enthrall.
I've come up with endless options of what I might savor
Be it sweet, or spicy, these veggies are full of flavor!
