Jesus By My Side
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer
In the depths of despair, I find myself lost,
But Jesus, my anchor, pays the ultimate cost.
Through trials and tribulations, He's by my side,
His love and His comfort, my fears He'll override.
When anxiety grips me, and I can't find my way,
I turn to Jesus, who hears when I pray.
His peace, like a river, flows deep within,
Washing away worry, cleansing my sin.
In the darkness of depression, His light shines bright,
Dispelling the shadows with His holy light.
For in Him, I find hope. In Him, I find peace,
His love for me will never cease.
Though the storms may rage and the winds may blow,
I cling to Jesus, for He'll never let go.
He's my rock, my refuge, my fortress strong,
In His arms, I find where I belong.
So amid my struggles, I'll keep pressing on,
For with Jesus beside me, I am never alone.
He's my strength, my salvation, my everything,
In Him, I find joy, and in Him, I'll sing.

How The Poem, In God We Trust, Applies Today:
Trust in God's Plan: When facing uncertainty or adversity, such as job loss or illness, a Christian can find comfort and strength in trusting that God has a plan for their life. By remembering God's sovereignty and His promise to work all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28), they can persevere with hope and confidence.
Finding Strength in Christ's Sacrifice: In times of guilt, shame, or doubt, a Christian can draw comfort and forgiveness from the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Knowing that Jesus paid the price for their sins and offers redemption and grace freely, they can experience healing and restoration in their relationship with God.
Anticipating Christ's Return: Amidst the challenges and trials of life, a Christian can find hope and encouragement in the promise of Jesus Christ's return. Believing in the certainty of His eventual coming to establish His kingdom and bring about ultimate justice and restoration, they can face the present with perseverance and a sense of purpose.
Community and Belonging: In times of loneliness or isolation, a Christian can find support and companionship within the community of believers. By sharing their faith journey with fellow Christians, they can experience mutual encouragement, accountability, and love, strengthening their resolve to live out their faith in a challenging world.
These examples demonstrate how the principles conveyed in the poem—trust in God's plan, reliance on Christ's sacrifice, anticipation of His return, and the importance of the Christian community—offer practical guidance and encouragement for believers in navigating the complexities of life with faith and hope.
