Poet: Robert Frost
The country things even with the country peace
Are lovelier with the country ease.
The meadow-sweet beside the hedge
Is sweeter for its setting edge,
The swallows in their half-round flight
Are swifter than the swallows quite,
And bees are drinking in the light
Lest the flowers lest all be lost.
For the country things even with the country peace
Are lovelier with the country ease.
A Calendar of Sonnets: July
Poet: Helen Hunt Jackson
Some flowers are withered and some joys have died;
The garden reeks with an East Indian scent
From beds where gillyflowers stand weak and spent;
The white heat pales the skies from side to side;
But in still lakes and rivers, cool, content,
Like starry blooms on a new firmament,
White lilies float and regally abide.
In vain the cruel skies their hot rays shed;
The lily does not feel their brazen glare.
In vain the pallid clouds refuse to share
Their dews, the lily feels no thirst, no dread.
Unharmed she lifts her queenly face and head;
She drinks of living waters and keeps fair.
July
Poet: Sara Teasdale
Brave July, bright and blue,
With her golden sun and dew,
Fairer than all other hours
Decked with sunshine, crowned with flowers.
July
Poet: John Clare (an excerpt) Loud is the summer's busy song
The smallest breeze can find a tongue,
While insects of each tiny size
Grow teasing with their melodies,
Till noon burns with its blistering breath
Around, and day lies still as death.
July Sunshine
In July, the sun shines bright,
Golden rays from morning to night,
Kids play outside, full of cheer,
Summer’s best month of the year!
Fireworks in the Sky
Fourth of July, fireworks fly,
Colors burst across the sky,
We watch in awe, eyes open wide,
Celebrating freedom with pride.
Beach Day Fun
Hot July brings beach day fun,
Sandcastles sparkling in the sun,
Waves crash gently on the shore,
Summer adventures we adore.
The BBQ Dilemma
July’s BBQs, a feast we adore,
But ants and wasps, they want even more,
We dance around with plates in hand,
A picnic ballet, unplanned!
The Sunburn Lesson
In July’s heat, we seek the beach,
With sunscreen just beyond our reach,
Red as lobsters, we learn the rule,
Next time, slather before the pool!
The Ice Cream Chase
July’s hot days call for ice cream delight,
But eat it quick, or you’ll lose the fight,
It melts and drips, a sticky mess,
A race with the sun, no less!
Sunny Days
July's embrace, a golden flare,
Sunlit fields, warm summer air,
With every ray, the world is kissed,
Nature basks in solar bliss.
Thunderstorms
July storms roll with might and grace,
Electric skies, a wild chase,
Raindrops dance, and thunder's roar,
A symphony of summer's core.
Starry Nights
July nights, a tranquil sight,
Stars ablaze in velvet night,
Whispers of the cosmos, clear,
Eternal beauty, ever near.
Blossoms of July
In July's heart, we find our bloom,
Emerging from life's tender gloom,
Each sunlit day, a chance to grow,
Like flowers from the earth below.
Thunderous Revelations
July’s storms, like trials we face,
Thunder’s roar, a life’s embrace,
In lightning's flash, we see the way,
Through shadows dark, to brighter days.
Nights of Reflection
July’s nights, with stars so bright,
Mirror souls in twilight's light,
We ponder paths we've yet to tread,
And dreams that lie just up ahead.
