The Uncooperative Snowman

Poet: Catherine Pulsifer

We rolled the snow, so big and round,
Stacked it high, the best in town!
With button eyes and a carrot nose,
A scarf to match, oh how he glows!

But then a gust—too strong, too fast -
Our snowman wobbled, couldn’t last.
His head toppled off and rolled away,
We chased it down, what a silly day!

We fixed him up, gave him new flair,
Plopped his hat back on with care.
But soon the sun began to peek,
And our proud snowman sprung a leak!

His nose slipped down, his grin went slack,
His arms fell off, a real sad sack.
Yet we just laughed, what could we do?
Snowmen melt; it’s nothing new!

So next time winter’s snowflakes fall,
And you’re out there having a ball,
Remember this: they’re built for fun,
But snowmen don’t last in the sun!
